Now this is the kinda celebrity gossip I like to see!! TWILIGHT star Kristin Stewart hitting the pipe on her front steps. I was just writing about this for a movie piece. Go you crazy vampire tweens!! Does a vampire get high if he drinks THC laden blood? Yes, methinks!!
For many, this is old news, but for people who have a life, runway is the live, without a net, equivalent of death sports for the fashion set. Now The Sartorialist, keep scrolling down to Nov. 21, 2008, & countless others have fashionably not pointed any significant fingers at Muccia's executive decision to send those shoes down the runway and a few of the girls wearing them to their literal downfall but I think the people have spoken on the topic of too high heels. They are sexy to look at, legs look great in them, but they're really performance wear. As in, it's "show time" when they're on and the show's over when they're off.
That said, the now legendary show, see also, BCBG, Rodarte and Peter Som for more spills and chills , is a defining moment that will separate the girls who can and the girls who can't. Even if the girls who can't, can. Fashion shows aren't about wearability, diversity or eating a sandwich. They are art exhibits. This show has raised the bar for larger than life, outrageous exhibitions and it also ups the value of humans who can be bone powder on gristle while WALKING IN super high heels. It's part of the job. Not common transferrable skills, but skills none the less. It also brings into question the integrity of a designer/accessories coordinator who would possibly let a person sustain a career damaging/ending injury on their dime, for their vision. Like I said, it's a death sport. Anyone miss "Style w/ Elsa Klensch" like I do?
BTW, kudos to the strippers, demimondes and trannys who CAN and DO on a daily basis!! Agents/Scouts, you're so looking in the wrong place.
Way to go!! The much alluded to rocking of the vote finally happened in a real way. Didn't Michelle Obama look great?
I have to say I'm only a little disappointed by the number of near wins (anything over 42% in my book) McCain had. That's a lot of disgruntled people. The next huge task will be hoping President Obama doesn't get assassinated. Don't act like you haven't thought about it. I'm hoping I don't wake up tomorrow and it's (I'm not entirely sure what "it" is) over before it begins.
I hope we all voted with our conscience and our common sense. This is the most informed I've ever been about an entire election. I've spoken to 2 other couples (hmmmm...all unmarried, BTW) who seriously sat down w/ the ballots and the books, and the pamphlets and really analyzed each "line item" for what it is/was and didn't just vote the party line. All careful investment and discussion on the topics + the debates, etc. I'm a terrible American because I can't swear I'll always be this informed about what I think is going on, but this is the first year I really felt proud for being informed AND that my vote might actually count. I've been wrong before though and I'll be very mad if this country fucks up this election. I mean, every state isn't California and not every one votes. It's a deal breaker people, just do it if you can.
You've probably already seen this, but in case you haven't, here it is.
More importantly, Starbucks, Ben and Jerry's and Krispy Kreme are giving away free stuff for voting. Or not even, You just tell them you voted. Some kinda law thing...Anyway, I'll keep you updated on free things on Nov. 4. Just vote. I know you can do it, if you haven't already that is!!
BTW, EARLY VOTING in San Francisco: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. San Francisco City Hall.
Oh, and I'll bet I didn't tell you that my Dad is actually voting Democratic this year!! I think it's because he now has a Grandchild AND a retirement plan. Awesome.
