    Wonder Con 2009: Wow

So I went to WonderCon and I still have one day to go. Wow. It was more than I could have imagined in many regards. There are also more REAL LIFE Commitments To The Original. I saw Bobba Fette and Storm Troopers. Fucking A. Will be back with pictures and other stuff for the 'zine. I promise. Oh and I saw Douglas Wolk there & Keith Knight! Yay!

Downer Update: Due to circumstances beyond my control, I ended up not making it on Sunday. No one is more disappointed than I. However, I still have pictures and notes that will get used.

      Commitment To The Original

This is a commitment to a look. A total look and I assume, lifestyle. He's going farther than my 10 year plan of simply being a presence for 10+ years before you're recognized on a large scale. His game is way more stepped up. The 30-40 year plan is what's going on here. I am neither appalled, nor overjoyed. I am impressed and surprised he hasn't changed or "updated" his look. It also tells me Robert Smith is showing no sign giving up anytime soon. No leaving the party early for Robert Smith. Oh and no Dockers and a belt like Morrisey. No, that kind of deconstruction is depressing. Robert Smith's black tunics cover that midlife spread in a much more flattering manner.

        Academy Awards 3.0

Here's the traditional celebratory sheet cake we obtained for the 2009 Academy Awards. Thank God the cake was right!! The cake told me that the bakers at Costco will print verbatim, whatever is written on the order. It also told me Costco bakers are not homophobic.

        MMMmmmm...sheet cake.

          Academy 2.0

I also have to say it's a sorry situation that there's not one nomination for Pineapple Express. I am 100% serious. Good writing, funny, violent AND features a process server. Benjamin Button? C'mon, now. Do not make me LOL.

I am also officially endorsing Danny McBride, from the aforementioned Pineapple Express, in Eastbound and Down. Hilarious.

It's some kind of lame that James Franco has not really been recognized as the cinematic chameleon he is. His range is impressive and expansive. Stoner, bad guy, Gucci model, gay. It's all good. Here's hoping he doesn't get "Bill Murray-ed" by the Academy.

            Chimpanzees and Xanax

I imagine you know how I feel about sharing your Xanax with a chimpanzee. I will only say there is a very comprehensive page about the fate of Travis here. Maybe he went batshit because he was treated like a son instead of a pet. Or maybe it was because he was treated like a pet. Either way, I'm pretty clear the wrong being died. The "animal" always gets screwed in these situations. I heard the lady in critical condition lost the use of her hands. You don't say...

I also recommend checking out the comments people leave about this story. Hilarious!

              BSG

Oh my Gods. Did you see "PC" as a doc on tonight's episode of BSG?

Best. Do. It. Yourself. Video. Ever.

Here's the tutorial I'm using to fix my Brother's new iPod Touch with. Already bought the part!! It's his birthday present. Another "gift" he needs is to not be around his wife, who felt breaking the said item in the first place was an "attention getter". It certainly got my attention. There's a reason I'm not in any of the wedding pictures. That's what this needs, a picture of the broken Pod. Will do. Look for the technological sadness in the next post.

Christian Bale-Out 3.0 Academy Awards Edition

I just like Christian Bale's attitude so much. Christian, I am very disappointed in your apology. I really am. Despite this flaw, I still tried to download your angry words as a my new ring tone. I failed & I think I just got charged $2.00 .

I think Christian is not really sorry about verbally abusing the DP. He's sorry he got recorded.

I saw Slumdog Millionaire. NOT nearly as gratifying as Christian's 5+ minutes of audio. SO many people told me I would like this. I did not. Well, it's just not as great of a movie as I was told it was & certainly not an Oscar heavy hitter. If it is, I would like to nominate Midnight Express because that's a great movie. I really am slowing down on Academy Awards consumption because I already saw The Wrestler. I don't think I'm going to see a movie that gets down to business like that. My last effort will be Frost/Nixon. I think I'll like it better than Slumdog Millionaire. I'm all in on The Wrestler.

Oh, I guess my real last effort will be the sheet cake that's been ordered for Academy Awards night that says "Congratulations, Harvey Milk!!" with rainbow balloons on it. If you don't believe me, I'll post a picture after I pick it up.

                    Clairvoyant

I'm not sure there's an impending trainwreck here, but she looks more hungry and less sexy to me.

I hope she never stops phoning it in from Vegas.

Olympic Bonghits, Beeps, Vampire Tweens and ShamWOW!!

Here's a picture of alleged Mayor of Atlantis and Man on Top, Fish on the Bottom, Michael Phelps, taking a Twilight sized bong hit, despite his asthmatic tendencies. Just like me!!...allegedly. This is also known as the Northwest Effect, please see Nov. 2008 archive. I'm so pleased, I could beep and twitter all fracking night. Yes. I watch Battlestar Gallactica. It must feel great when you fulfill your aquatic potential at an age that also allows you to fully enjoy drinking, strippers and bong rips with little to no negative repercussions from the media or the law. I heartily applaud him for what appears to be not raising his standard of living, but REALLY upping his standard of partying. He probably bought a new couch and a new bed because well...those things get a workout, but otherwise, he has years of endorsement money ahead of him and his handlers probably set him up with a good money manager. I have wondered while watching Vince tell me about the ShamWow, if this is the Olympic swimmer that uses the ShamWow to completely dry off. God, I hope so. So let's address the doping issue. This is not doping. If Aquaman can still win 16 Gold Medals (2 in Athens, 14 in Beijing) AND smoke the Cush, then he should keep right on doing it. He should probably use a vaporizer for the long term health of his lungs, but I'm certainly not going to tell him how to get his smoke on. I'm also really stoked for him that he got over enough quit his part time job the Olympic Hopeful Slave Camp, a/k/a, Home Depot. Thousands of hopefuls, none medal 16 times. Smoke it if you've got it, Mike!!

Is this feeling the "hope" I've heard so much about? So far, 2009 is shaping up to be the year I've been the most proud to be an American. USA!! USA!!
