    Unbelieveable!!

Man. Animals are really taking it on the chin this week. I'm not even doing a link to anything because you know what I'm talking about. Now that we've turned on each other, must we turn on the animals? Bird Flu. Swine Flu. Whatever. I think the natural thinning of the herd is pretty typical and not virulent enough. The only thing that consistently sucks is that it's inevitably poor people who get thinned out. Oh, and animals.

And do not even make me start thinking about bird strikes.

      Bird Strike 2.0

I'm so not buying it. I know I've said the same thing before, but I just thought I'd reiterate it.

Spend It While You've Got It

In an unprecedented way of thinking for me, it's time to splurge. I'm accepting this point of view as someone who's always saved, ostensibly for the future. Well the future is now and fiscal responsibility and living within my means has not gotten me nearly as far as I thought it would. In fact, I'm seeing the monetary system I've willfully participated in has far fewer rewards than I EVER could have imagined. Apparently the economic recovery is for people who declare bankruptcy and spend money like water. I assume it's always been this way because the government is trying to get banks to start making loans AGAIN. How many times must you touch a hot stove before you believe it's hot? I'm going to try to be a fiscally bigger asshole but I'm fighting through decades of believing my credit rating was some kind of reflection, at least in part, of my worth as an American. Another HUGE example of "Boy, was I wrong." in my penny pinching face.

The Media and Tea Baggers - TISTF Edition

I don't know if I can imagine something funnier than a faction of the population now unwittingly known as Tea Baggers. Couldn't someone talk to someone who could do something? No one thinks of the Boston Tea Party. But I guess that's the point. Well for starters, he's not a King...and do you really think any President Elect wouldn't have had to raise taxes?

              Face Forward

Kudos French Elle!! Model and Celeb cover gals with no make up and no retouching. Of course, professional lighting & photography is still a real asset, but still a bold-ish, recessionista move for Elle. In an economy that's made it uncomfortable for some people to check out at department stores, this totally makes twisted sense for the beautiful and famous. It's prole drift, yo. I can't wait to see Inès de la Fressange. She's soooo pretty and chic, I totally used to want to be her. She's also possibly my favorite Chanel spokesmodel EVER.

                  ShamPOW!! 2.0 - EEEEewwwww

Here are some pretty nasty crime scene photos from Vince Shlomi's ShamGate fiasco. Of course, conveniently located in Florida. And by nasty I mean, check out the 2 condoms by the pillow. Blow up the picture. See 'em? EEEWwWWWWWwwww. Pixelate, people. That may be the most obscene thing I've ever seen. Really.

Basically, Vince kissed this Working Gal and she bit his tongue and wouldn't let go. So he punched her in the face a lot. Now everyone I've discussed this with has agreed that kissing a hooker is wrong, unless she explicitly says you can. This makes sense, right? It's commonly agreed upon. Vince was wrong. I think I am casting judgement on someone I do like on a character level. That's what happens when you violate social rules.

Oh and as for all that blood on the bed? I wouldn't be too alarmed. There's a lot of blood going to the head, so when ever there's a cut on the head it bleeds like a motherfucker, but it also quits bleeding pretty quick because it wants to survive like a motherfucker. I'm just saying you could lose that much blood from a nose bleed. Just imagine much Vince's tongue bled.

But we can all agree this whole affair is pretty gross, right? The Smoking Gun is truly one of the last bastions of reputable news.

In a related announcement, my boyfriend Billy Mays is going to be in a show called Pitchmen on Discovery. Cannot wait.

Oh and a quick reminder that the price of stamps is going up 2 cents on May 7, 2009. Buy the Forever Stamps. Not aesthetically satisfying, but really, an investment. Incidentally, the Simpsons Stamps are on sale now online!

                    Friday's Mashup

Here's a video that mixes Lazytown, a creepy & confusing kid's show, with Lil' John, a monster-esqe & confusing hip hop crunkster. As someone who shamelessly can't wait for my nephew to get picked up so I can can go out, this is what the inside of my head sometimes sounds like. I like Lil' John because he has a chalice.

BELATED Congrats Run DMC: BLTN Edition

I'm late to the party cuz Run DMC were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 3, 2009. I'm particularly impressed that they decided not to show up to accept. That is loyalty and honor, people. They didn't want to perform under said moniker without Jam Master Jay, who was murdered in 2002.

Aside: I was visiting Manhattan when Jam Master Jay was assassinated. CRAZY!! I bought the newspaper, but then gave it to a friend who would need it more.

Nitt Witt Ridge, CA - The Burton Inn

This crazy house is three stories and built of all repurposed cast offs from Hearst Castle by Mr. Art Beal. Talk about ahead of your time...

Located in Cambria, California this is a true inspiration to repurpose-ers everywhere!! I love a good junk man.

Thanks Celestina and of course, Huell Howser, you annoying bastard.

                            RIP: Heard On The Runway

Very sorry to find The Wall Street Journal's "Heard On The Runway" blog is defunct. This really is the great depression when WSJ can't keep a BLOG its site!! Redirected to WSJ Fashion. Now how will know how where the rubber meets the proverbial road, at the intersection of corporate money and what people want to buy. Heard on the Runway was the most to the point fashion blog I frequented. It made my life easier and I'll miss it.
